NOM NOMZZ.

fact: We're spoiled with good food in Torrance.

Miso Chicken ramen from Marukai. I'm not even sure what the name of the place was, but its right inside the big Marukai. The broth looks oily in the pic but it actually didn't taste that way. Us Komaes are corn people so that was an added bonus, and the noodles were firmer than those at Hakata which was good! *am I a food critic now or something? lol*
KANSHAAAAA. Russ has been talking nonstop about Kansha Creamery ever since he went a few weeks ago and I finally got to try it. *Go on a Tuesday, discount prices!* The scoop on the right is Yellow Brick Road which has like cornbread pieces and some amazing brittle?? Yellow Brick Road...to heaven. SO GOOD.

JAPAN IS SO COOL. *episode1*

Currently obsessed with all things Japan. Just ask Emiko who hears the majority of my *i'm obsessed with Japan* rants and encourages me in said obsession.

I'm convinced Japan is the coolest place ever. I mean COME ON. Tiny buildings, ridiculous fashion, the worlds most beautiful food, weirdly awesome music, miniature versions of everything, amazing technology...its as if they are lightyears ahead of the rest of the world - amiright?! Not to mention all of the amazing Japanese pop stars, actors and actresses...but we'll save that for another time.

For now...a bunch of pics of Japanese spaces from the rad architecture website DEZEEN.

GAHHHH!!!!!

two guns & twins

Every time I go to Manhattan beach I ask myself the same question - why don't I come here more often? This time around, Lynz and Steph were there to join me and we hit up two guns expresso (which now serves really good breakfast food. dangerous) before hitting the beach. These two are travel junkies so we spent the morning discussing all of our next travel plans and all the current things we're stoked about.

basically...really good coffee, avocado toast with burrata cheese (GAHH), travel talk, and the ocean = FOOD FOR MY SOUL!

The craziest thing about photography, to me, is that in that moment when the shutter clicks you have captured a moment in time that will never happen again. Maybe things similar to that exact moment will happen again, but that time, those people, that place, that day can never be exactly recreated. I recently saw a photo by national geographic of a portrait on an Indian girl taken in 1907. It gave me the chills just looking at it (see it here) not only because it was a stunning portrait, but because it was a moment frozen in time from over 100 years ago. beautiful. Anyway, it's been almost a year exactly since I came home from Gulu and every time I look back at these photos i'm reminded of that moment in time when my shutter clicked in the middle of the East African dry season. Maybe 100 years from now, some kid will look back on all our generations' photos and be perplexed and amazed at the way we lived life.
